We will fire Mahama’s appointees – Osafo-Marfo

Senior Minister-designates, Yaw Osafo Marfo has revealed that President Nana Akufo-Addo is likely to terminate the last-minute appointments of former President John Dramani Mahama.

Answering questions for the Appointment Committee of Parliament, Mr Osafo Marfo said “we had an agreement with the outgoing NDC government not to make recruitments and procurements. The NPP government reserves the right to lay off any person recruited after the election results were announced.”

According to the Senior Minister-designate, he, for example, had to stop about eight attempts to auction off vehicles.

He also added that the NDC government erred in law when it made appointments and signed contracts. “The Transition Act was breached as it requires the outgoing government to submit handing over notes a one month to the elections.”

Shortly after John Mahama’s loss of the December 2016, there were reports that a number of government institutions were being filled with the appointment of people suspected to be his party faithful.
