The first Vice Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has stated that if found guilty after investigations have been conducted into the alleged manipulations of the Ablekuma South Constituency elections by the Deputy Minister of Works and Housing, Madam Theresa Amerly Tagoe, she would face the party’s disciplinary action.
Reacting to the front page story in The Crusading Guide, with the headline “NPP Minister funs riots” … She Violates Party’s Order and Physically attacks Party Member (24th – 30th Sept. 2002), Mr Ntim said that the party’s executives were going to interpret the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Constitution and use the necessary constitutional provision to solve whatever problem is confronting the feuding factions in the case.
He further submitted that Theresa Tagoe was first a member of the NPP before becoming a Minister and therefore would submit herself to the party for the needed disciplinary measures to be taken against her if found to have misconduct herself. “Every body not just her”, he added.
“At every point in time the part is supreme; it doesn’t matter who we are dealing with, once he or she flouts our regulations he or she would be dealt with accordingly. We would have to first retrieve a copy of that letter suspending the election from the regional office. Then we would apply the disciplinary code if necessary.
The Third Vice Chairman of the NPP, Mr Eddie Annan, also corroborated his boss’ words, saying that the Disciplinary Code of the party would be used appropriately if anybody is found to have violated the party’s laws.
“The Crusading Guide” in the above named story, reported of how Madam Theresa Tagoe had violated an order from the regional office of the party that the congress should not be held. The paper also threw more light on an alleged physical attack on one Mr. Yaw Darkwa, Acting Organiser of Gbebu Electoral Area, by the Deputy Minister of Works and Housing.
