We put you first — Amissah-Arthur tells Ghanaians

The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been putting Ghanaians first as far as the development of the country is concerned, Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, has said.

According to him, unlike the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) that is campaigning ahead of the December polls on tribal lines, the NDC has a well thought-through plan and programme aimed at developing the country.

Speaking to students of the Tamale polytechnic on Friday, 4 November, Mr Amissah-Arthur said: “If they (NPP) come to Tamale, they say a different message – that vote for me, if they come to Tamale, they say because I am from here so vote for me, when they go to other places they say because I am a Muslim so vote for me. The NDC does not (act) like that. We don’t pick and choose as we go along.”

“We have a similar message throughout the country. The message is one and the message is development; that this country must go forward, that this country must progress. We are not talking about where we are coming from or who we are. I think that this country must go forward and the way to go forward is …to put people first. Putting people first has been our priority since the election campaign of 2008.

“Putting people first means giving them an opportunity to improve themselves and giving them opportunity to rise up socially,” Mr Amissah-Arthur said.
