We need peaceful elections – Hammond

Adansi-Asokwa (Ash), Jan. 6, GNA – The Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi-Asokwa and Deputy Minister of Energy, Mr K.T. Hammond, has stressed the need for all political parties to assist to make this year’s general elections peaceful.

“We want peaceful elections”, he declared and advised against politics of deceit.

Mr Hammond, who was addressing polling station agents of the Adansi-Asokwa constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urged the opposition parties to allow President John Agyekum Kufuor to govern the country.

The MP noted that the nation was reaping the benefits of HIPC and other initiatives of the government to justify the extensive foreign tours of the President.

Mr Hammond said the government of the NPP had not discriminated in the distribution of development projects.

He called on the polling station agents and other party members to avoid any infighting and work to give President Kufuor another term. The MP advised the party members to be vigilant during the voters’ registration exercise.

Mr Joseph K. Boampong, Adansi West District Chief Executive, assured Ghanaians that the government would not fail them when given another term.

He said the remarkable achievements so far chalked over the past three years were indicative of the government’s determination to rebuild the nation. 06 Jan. 04
