We need jobs – Group

Youth of Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK) district in the Central Region are appealing to authorities to provide them with jobs to improve their living conditions.

Kofi Aboakye, Youth President, speaking on Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM on Tuesday May 16, said most of the youth in the district remain unemployed, while the few who are employed, especially under the Youth Employment Agency, have also not been paid their salaries for months, leaving the youth in a dire financial situation.

“The district is struggling, the youth are also struggling and so we are appealing to our leaders to come and assist us.

“There are others who are employed to teach under the Youth Employment programme but they have not been paid their salaries and that is causing a lot of problems,” he said.

Prince Amoah, a teacher in the area, added that they remain optimistic that the Akufo-Addo government will create more job opportunities for the youth in the area and across the country.

“We don’t think the president has any intention of cutting us off because he assured that he would create jobs for us,” he added.
