We must win 2016 at the polls, Akufo-Addo tells NPP

The New Patriotic Party must win the 2016 general elections at the polls, two-time presidential candidate of Ghana’s biggest opposition party, Nana Akufo-Addo has said.

He told regional and constituency executives in the Upper East that the 2012 election petition has taught the party that elections are won at the polls.

The former foreign affairs Minister is touring the region to market himself to party delegates and supporters ahead of the October 18, 2014 presidential primaries. All 15 Constituency Chairmen declared “full support” for Akufo-Addo.

Akufo-Addo is contesting six other aspirants for the flagbearer slot, which he hopes to hold for the third time after two unsuccessful attempts in 2008 and 2012.

Other contenders are former trade minister Alan Kyeremanten, former information minister Stephen Asamoah Boateng, former Attorney General Joe Ghartey, Asuagyaman Legislator Osei Ameyaw, another former trade minister Kofi Konadu Apraku and another Legislator Francis Adai Nimoh.
