We are working to establish Financial Tribunal – Judicial Service

Accra, Oct. 23, GNA – The Chief Justice, Mrs Justice Georgina Wood on Tuesday gave the assurance that a Financial Tribunal would be established to deal with matters arising from mismanagement of public funds as soon as “all relevant issues” are resolved

A statement signed by Deputy Judicial Secretary, Mr Abdullah Iddrisu, said among the primary concerns to be resolved was the issue of appropriate status of the tribunal to be established.

It said the Chief Justice’s attention had been drawn to calls made by the Public Account Committee of Parliament for the establishment of a Financial Tribunal under the Financial Administration Act 2003, Act 654.

“The honourable Chief Justice would like to assure the Committee and the general public that the matter had been under serious consideration for some time now.

“As soon as all the relevant issues have been resolved, the Tribunal will be duly established without delay.” The statement said in the interim, the Judicial Service was assuring the public that the Service was in a position to deal with all matters arising out of mismanagement of public funds, through the existing courts.
