We Are Not Children- Salaga NDC tells Bonniface

The Deputy Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Salaga Constituency, Mr. Habib Aminu has dismissed claims by Mr. Bonniface Abubakar Saddique, former Member of Parliament (MP) for the area that the Mills administration has abandoned the water projects that were initiated under the erstwhile New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“After working as MP for two terms at the Constituency and getting the privilege of serving in five different ministerial positions under the Kufuor regime, we are not children for him to come now after losing power to rationalize his eight years of failure,” says Mr. Aminu.

According to him, the NPP did not leave behind a dime for any water project in 2008 for the Salaga Constituency and challenged the former MP to come out and show the whole world where the funds are.

The NDC Salaga scribe maintained that the former MP is feeling guilty that after eight years in power, he and his NPP left the Salaga water system in worse situation than they met it and so must resort to lies to save their face and throw dust in our eyes.

The Deputy Secretary dared the former MP to show to the people of Salaga the location of the overheard water storage tanker facilities that he claims as a Minister for Water Resources has constructed under the NPP.

The constituency has been reeling under a serious water crisis because the water facilities are antiquated and woefully below the capacity of the burgeoning population. For instance, the machines have the capacity to produce only 20,000 gallons when about 3000,000 gallons are needed to satisfy the entire population of about 30,000 people.

He pointed out that the Mills administration has taken the bull by the horn and is moving at full throttle to meet the water needs of the people of the Constituency. For example, the East Gonja District Assembly under the current DCE, Mr. Alhassan Mumuni, has paid three fourth of the cost of three machines to be installed at Nkwanta Water Facility to serve the entire area adding that very soon the water problems in the area will be a thing of the past.
