We are experiencing the outset of the harmattan – Meteorologist

The sudden outburst of dry weather conditions in the southern part of the country, is an indication of the first outset of the harmattan season.

The atmospheric haze and dryness is expected to increase in the coming days.

Mr Tetteh Portuphy, Senior Meteorologist at the Ghana Meteorological Agency, Kotoka International Airport (KIA), said this to the Ghana News Agency in an interview.

He said the recent rains some parts of the country experienced, was a clearing out the last remnants of moisture that were left in the atmosphere to pave the way for the dry season.

The Senior Meteorologist said the Northern part of the country was already in the harmattan season.
