President John Dramani Mahama has said his government is on course to asphalting all major roads in all parts of the country.
Speaking on Radio Savannah Thursday July 14 in Tamale as part of his Accounting to the People tour, Mr Mahama said: “We have democratised asphalt.”
He listed some of the road projects being asphalted as Gambia Number 2 to Kyeremaso, Mim-Goaso, Akontombra-Sefwi Wiawso, Nkrankwanta-Adabokrom, among others.
Mr Mahama added: “From Elubo coming to Dadieso and Enchi we are engineering the roads there. We have done the Agona roads, we have done the gas enclave roads in the Nzema area. We are doing roads in all the major towns, we have democratised asphalt.
“Asphalt is not only in regional capitals today; in some of the district capitals we are doing about 10 kilometres to 20 kilometres of asphalt overlay. We are doing it in Winneba, we are doing it in Swedru, we are doing it in Cape Coast, and we are doing it in so many communities all over.
“In Sunyani, we are engineering the outer ring road and the inner ring road and work is ongoing, by next year they will be completed so that it eases congestion in Sunyani.”
Mr Mahama continued: “In Tamale, we are doing the asphalt overlay, we are doing more than 50 kilometres of asphalt overlay in Tamale. In Accra, we are doing 170 kilometres; in Tema…in Ashaiman, and so there is massive road work going on all over the country.
