The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has assured residents within the Accra-Tema metropolis that by the end of 2014, the erratic supply of water will be a thing of the past.
“The rationing that we are experiencing in Accra may cease entirely depending on the connections that we have to people’s homes,” Stanley Martey, the Communication Manager of the Company told TV3 over the weekend.
He gave the assurance after a working tour around the Kpong Water Treatment Plant, which is 90 per cent completed; he said.
Expansion works on the Plant began in June and is expected to be completed in May 2015.
The Plant is expected to add 40 million gallons per day to the current supply of 93 million gallons per day and will supply to residents in Adenta, Madina, Dodowa and their environs.
“We are going to get water into the Accra-Tema Metropolitan area and then the water problems in Greater Accra will be solved.”
