Water Flow to Juapong to improve

Juapong, April 4, GNA – The Aqua Vitens Rand Limited is tackling the water flow hiccups in Juapong to enable water reach all customers regardless of gradient of location.

Customers on flat rate would be given meters and faulty meters examined and replaced if need be. Mr Theophilus Collins, the Volta Regional Customer Care Manager, said this during a public forum at Juapong on Sunday to educate clients on operations of the company, projections, problems and expectations.

Mr Collins gave a week’s moratorium to people who had illegally tapped water to regularize those connections or be traced and punished.

He said the company was willing to give technical advice to clients with damaged pipelines to forestall problems of flow created by clumsy repairs and installations by some private plumbers. Concerns raised during question time included high fees charged by the Company for connections, slow and frustrating process of connections, poor flow and frequent and unannounced interruptions in supply. Mr Collins explained that fluctuations and cuts in electricity flow to the water plants was the main reason for interruptions in water flow.

Mr Jacob Tornyeli Tsorme-Nukpedu of the North-Tongu Dusor District Development Committee called on Aqua Viten Rand to reassure community members that they would find the resources to increase reach of water in the community and adjoining areas or committee members would arrange to manage the facility themselves. Mr Eric William Bissih, a pensioner, said water providers and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) should work hard on the credibility gap between them and their clients as even kids associate the two companies with shoddiness.

As part of Water Day Celebration in the Volta Region on March 22, the Aqua Vitens Rand Limited bused many workers to the Kpeve Water Station that supplies water to Ho.
