Wassa West Development Plan to cost 180 billion cedis

Tarkwa (W/R) Feb.1-GNA-Wassa West 2006-2009 Medium Term Development Plan is estimated at 180 billion cedis, Nana Kwantwi, the District Planning Officer, said on Wednesday.

Speaking at a public hearing of the three-year plan, he said projects to be undertaken under the plan, included construction of a new football stadium at Tarkwa.

Nana Kwantwi said other projects are construction of two new technical and vocational institutions and mechanised boreholes. He said 30 communities would be hooked to the national grid under the plan as well as the construction of a slaughterhouse at Tarkwa. Nana Kwantwi said the district assembly would purchase one refuse truck, one septic emptier and construct 22 aqua toilets. He said pan latrines would be phased out and replaced by water closest places of convenience.

Nana Kwantwi said the district assembly would give out 105,000 treated mosquito nets under its malaria prevention programme. He said the district assembly in collaboration with mining companies in the area would implement the medium term development plan.
