Wassa-Akropong Hospital is not affected by strike

Wassa-Akropong (W/R), June 17, GNA – Junior doctors, nurses and paramedical staff of the government hospital at Wassa-Akropong are not on strike and are operating normally.

Dr. Fredrick Yaw Sarpong, Medical Officer in charge of the hospital, told the Ghana News Agency at Wassa-Akropong that for humanitarian reasons, there was no way he, being the only medical doctor at the hospital, could abandon his patients even though he supported the action of his colleagues.

He said unlike in the cities and urban towns where patients could seek alternative medical attention at private clinics and hospitals, such private health facilities do not exist in the rural areas.
