“Wahala” to hit the streets of Takoradi

Accra, June 14 GNA – The Committee for Joint Action (CJA) said on Tuesday it would move to Takoradi very soon for its sixth “Wahala” march. The group also announced that it would hold a series of public fora at Cape Coast, Tema, Ho, Tamale and the other regional capitals to sensitise the public on the need to demand socio-economic justice, accountability and transparency in governance.

Ms Emelia Arthur, a member of the CJA, made the announcement when she briefed the Media about the last “Wahala” march at Techiman and related events that occurred during the protest.

The CJA, a political pressure group aimed at fighting social inequality for the masses, has organised series of protests in the regions against the government’s recent increase in the prices of petroleum products and its economic policies, which it claimed had brought untold hardships to the people.

Ms Arthur said a group of people wanted to disturb the Techiman protest last week and warned that the CJA would not tolerate any intimidation or harassment from anybody. Ms Arthur said the Committee would lodge a formal protest with the Inspector General of Police; the Minister of The Interior and the Minister of Justice about the conduct of the group.
