WAEC releases provisional results for April 2011 BECE

Accra, July 20, GNA- The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released provisional results of the April 2011 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) with 186 of the candidates having their subjects’ results cancelled.

Thirteen candidates had their entire results cancelled whiles the results of 3,855 other candidates were withheld pending the conclusion of investigations into various examination irregularities. These were disclosed by a release issued by Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, Principal Public Affairs Officer of WAEC on Tuesday and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

It said the affected candidates were involved in various examination irregularities that included bringing foreign material into the examination hall; seeking or receiving help from non-candidates such as invigilators, supervisor and teachers; parts of question papers and answer booklets torn and collusion. The statement said the results would be dispatched to the various schools through the District Directors of Education. “Candidates may access their results online,” the statement said.
