Wa Municipal Assembly rejects Presiding Member

WA, June 25, GNA – The Wa Municipal Assembly on Wednesday rejected Mr. Adams Sulemani, Assemblyman for the Boli Electoral Area, as the Presiding Member for the assembly when he failed to secure two-thirds of votes.

Mr. Adams, who was the only member who filed to contest for the position, polled 16 votes with nine against in the 27-member assembly at the election which was conducted by Mr. Lucas Yiryel the Municipal Director of the Electoral Commission. Immediately after the election, the members engaged in hot arguments arising out of motions and counter motions and by majority decision agreed to continue voting until the candidate got the nod.
