Wa East Confirms District Chief Executive

Funsi (UW), Jan 9, GNA- The Newly created Wa East District Assembly, in the Upper West Region, on Monday confirmed Mr Issahaku Mahama Adams as their maiden District Chief Executive. All the 24 members of the District Assembly voted for the 34-year-old teacher, who replaces the first nominee of the President, who was rejected by the Assembly last year.

Mr Ambrose Dery, who witnessed the election conducted by the Electoral Commission, commended the House for confirming the candidate and appealed to them to cooperate with him to facilitate the meaningful development of the area. He stressed: “As a new Assembly, you lack a lot of basic infrastructure and that is why you need to come together and forge ahead for better development.”

Mr Adams appealed to the Assembly to steer away from disunity and bitterness. “I know that I alone cannot bring development to this district except with your support and so I will say here that it is only with your maximum cooperation that we can do things and catch up with the older district assemblies,” he observed.
