W/R launches one-year prayer festival

Sekondi, March 4,-GNA-The Western Regional Coordinating Council in collaboration with the Sekondi Takoradi Ministers Network on Friday launched a one-year prayer and fasting programme to coincide with Ghana’s 50th anniversary, next year. To facilitate the celebrations, a regional non-denomination church service would be held at the Takoradi Polytechnic Park on March 5 this year.

Mr. Joseph B. Aidoo, Western Regional Minister announced this at a press conference at Sekondi.

He said the prayer festival had become necessary and was part of activities of the 6th March celebrations and urged all Christians and Muslims to pray for the peace of the country. Mr. Aidoo said without peace, development, freedom and economic transformation could not be achieved and therefore, called on all churches to join the programme. He said several countries were going through turbulent times and it was important that the country sought the face of God more frequently.

The Reverend Emmanuel Boamah-Agyekum, Coordinator of the network said it was aimed at uniting all Christians and people of other faith. He therefore, appealed to all religious organisations to join and make the programme a success. Rev. Boamah-Agyekum said praise and worship and an all night sessions would form part of the celebrations, which would be held in March 2007. March 04 06
