Vulcaniser goes to jail for stealing two fowls

Ejisu (Ash), Aug 1, GNA- A magistrate court at Ejisu on Thursday sentenced a 30-year-old vulcaniser to one-year imprisonment in hard labour for stealing two fowls.

Simon Boadi pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing and asked the court to deal with him leniently.

Police Chief Inspector A.K. Danquah told the court presided over by Mr Adutwum Mmorosa that the complainant was Police Corporal Simon Boavo. At about 1630 hours on July 17, this year, the complainant spotted the accused and another person, now at large, known only as Ben, carrying a fertilizer bag and heading towards Abenase near Ejisu. Chief Insp Danquah said the complainant suspected them to be carrying stolen items in the bag and, therefore, advanced towards them. The prosecutor said when the culprits saw the complainant approaching, they took to their heels but Boadi was arrested. Chief Insp Danquah said two fowls and cooking utensils were found when the fertilizer bag was searched at the police station. The accused admitted stealing the fowls and cooking utensils when the police interrogated him.
