VRA to continue current power operation

Accra, July 31, GNA – The Volta River Authority (VRA) on Tuesday said it would continue to run the two generating units at the Akosombo until further notice. A statement the VRA issued in Accra said, “The two-unit operation will be complemented by available thermal generation, including the emergency power units to serve our customers.” The VRA advised the public that based on its assessment of prevailing hydrological conditions, there was no need to reduce production of electricity at Akosombo now. It reiterated its appeal to consumers to switch over to energy saving appliances such as Compact Fluorescent Lamps to conserve energy and money.
