VR Health Service holds free public screening

The Volta Regional Directorate of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) on Friday screened members of the public free of charge as part of the launch of the Service in the region.

Checks were carried out for hypertension, diabetes and eye diseases at the Ho Central market.

The exercise went on simultaneously with a four-hour float by Health Workers through the principal streets of Ho.

Led by Mr Albert Asiedu-Offei, Volta Regional Administrator of the GHS, the workers distributed literature on Reproductive Health, especially HIV/AIDS and condoms to people who lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the float.

Some of the placards read, “we would uphold the right of patients and clients”, “no more unauthorised fees”, “Ghana Health Service is Born”, and ‘We are friendly, approach us for service”.

Dr Nii Adokwei Addo, acting Volta Regional Director of the GHS urged health professionals to be guided by the code of ethics of the Service.

He asked them to eschew laziness, drunkenness and the pilfering of drugs and rededicate themselves to cater for the health needs of the people
