Voting Progress – Ablekuma Accra

At Ablekuma Central Constituency, there were long queues with complaints of absence of voter transfer list at some polling stations. The Returning Officer had to ask voters to either wait for it to be brought or go home and return later in the day. At 1030 hours GNA spotted the official of the Electoral Commission distributing the voter transfer list to some poling stations in the constituency who had not received theirs. The Returning Officer Mr Akwetey Amannoh at the New Abossey Okai Polling Centres A and B said voting started at exactly 0700. At the Mataheho 2 Boys’ School voting started 0748 hours. The returning Officer Raphael Appiah said all was well but they were still waiting for the voter transfer list so that voters would not be disenfranchised.

The People’s Shop Polling Centre Presiding Officer Mohammed Muktar said voting started at 0700 hours prompt but refused to give the exact number of voters who had voted when GNA got there at 10:15 am. Voters at the Old Most Holy Heart School who had been asked to wait for the Voter Transfer List to be brought were asked to join the queue when officials of the EC brought the list at 1020 hours. Returning Officer Nelson Adzokatse told the GNA that there were no security personnel at the centre but voters were cooperating for the smooth running of affairs.

At the Gaskia Cinema Centre, a large number of people with disabilities were being attended to with their able bodied aides to cast their votes even though some voters complained about it. Daniel Ansah, Returning Officer, complained about the absence of the Voter Transfer list but noted that all was well.
