Voting in Asante-Mampong begins peacefully and orderly

Asante-Mampong (Ash), Aug. 7, GNA – Voting by delegates in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) historic flagbearer election in Asante-Mampong, begun peacefully and orderly.

About 494 delegates drawn from 92 polling stations join other voters nationwide to elect a Presidential Candidate for the NPP. Five presidential aspirants are contesting the slot to lead the party in its struggle for political power in Election 2012.

Reverend John Kwame Kodua, Mr Isaac Osei, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Mr John Alan Kojo Kyerematen are the contestants.

A total of 350 of the delegates had cast their ballot, barely three hours after voting had started at the Mampong Technical College of Education.

The election, supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC) closes at 1500 hours.
