Voting delays at Aflao due to late arrival of materials

Aflao, Sept. 26, GNA – There was a delayed start of voting in the District Assembly Elections in the Ketu-South constituency on Tuesday marked by voter apathy, resulting in slow turnout in the process, polling officers have said.

Timber market, Zigakponu, Aflagatsigorme, Market and Legbasime polling centres started the exercise two hours late due to the late arrival of materials.

Only 51 people voted at Zigakponu when the GNA called at about 1245 hours out of a voter list of 817, while 143 voted at Aflagatsigorme as at 1300 hours out of 822 registered voters.

Mr Johnson Akafia District Electoral Officer said he was not aware of the late distribution of materials and that any such hiccup could only be due to 93operational problems’ because his office had mobilised materials for the exercise on time.
