Presidential and parliamentary elections started smoothly in Ho, the Volta Regional capital on Friday December 7.
Many polling stations started the exercise on schedule with no snag. As early as 0400 hours, hundreds of people had formed long queues in anticipation of the voting exercise.
As at 0830, people were seen in long queues bringing social and economic activities to a halt temporarily.
Mr Franklin Burkiner, Supervisor of the Social Centre SSNIT Flat, Ho-Ahoe Centre told the GNA that irrespective of the long queues the exercise was moving on smoothly.
He said a total of 991 electorates were expected to vote at the station.
At the Ho-Bankoe L.A JHS B Polling Centre, Reverend Lovelace Tetteh, Supervisor, said a total of 43 persons out of 586 prospective voters had cast their votes at 0755 hours.
He was optimistic that though the turnout was big, the exercise would be very successful and end on time.
