Voters Roll Debate: ‘NPP was terribly embarrassed’ – Koku Anyidoho

Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho believes the call for a new voters register by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is dead on arrival.

In his post analysis of the forum organized by the Electoral Commission of Ghana for stakeholders, including political parties, to debate on whether there is the need for a new electoral roll or not, the former Spokesperson for the late President Evans Atta Mills said the elephant family wasn’t convincing in their delivery.

He told Yaa Serwaa Akoto on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM in an interview on Friday that the NPP’s statement of claim which was presented by their former National Chairman, Peter Mac Manu, only affirmed the NDC’s position that the country does not need a new voters register.

“Talk is cheap, but facts are sacred. Peter Mac Manu failed to deliver. His presentation lacked merit, no substance, no solid evidence. It was a mere rhetoric. They couldn’t provide any evidence to back their claims of the Togolese voters register. That of the Burkina Faso and La Cote d’Ivoire’s registers was not backed by any evidence. So, the NPP was terribly embarrassed,” he noted.

He said what is best for the country at the moment is to clean the voters register to get rid of any minor and alleged foreign nationals that have flooded the nation’s electoral album.
