Voters registration trend in Sekyere West

Mampong (Ash), March 24, GNA – The Sekyere West District in the Ashanti Region is poised to exceed its target of registering 81,827 people in the on-going voters registration exercise, Mr Osman Ali, the District Electoral Officer has said.
He explained that the people were patronising the exercise because they were educated on its significance adding that some people in the urban areas decided to register in their hometowns.
Mr Ali told the GNA on Wednesday that 40 out of the 186 registration centres in the district had by the close of the registration on Tuesday exceeded their targets by over 100 registered voters.
He emphasised that the exercise in the district was so far without any registration malpractices. Mr Thomas Edward Atakorah, the District Chief Executive, also told the GNA that he was encouraged by the trend of the exercise expressed the hope that the peaceful atmosphere would prevail at the forthcoming polls.
