Voter turnout generally low in the Ho municipality

Ho, Sept 26, GNA – Turnout in the Local government elections was generally low at all the polling stations visited by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in the Ho Municipality on Tuesday between 1030 hours and midday.

However, there was a little more enthusiasm in the process at the Ho-Kpodzi cluster of schools polling station in the Bosomtoe Electoral area where 90 people had cast their votes by midday with many more trooping in.

Mr Simon Ahorlu, Election Officer in charge said turnout started slowly but improved by mid-morning.

The GNA discovered that a few people who were unaware that voting was not taking place in their areas with sole candidates had gone to the polling stations and found no booths.

There are 43 electoral areas in the Ho Municipal Area, nine out of which have candidates standing unopposed.
