Vote for development-oriented party – DCE urged electorate

Baanofour (B/A), Sept. 14, GNA – Mr Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi, Nkoranza District Chief Executive has called on the electorate to scrutinize the manifestoes of the various political parties and vote for the party that would help advance their development programmes. He was addressing a fund raising harvest organized by the people of Baanofour in the district towards the construction of a nursery school project. The DCE advised the people not to let partisan politics to divide them but instead, they should unite so they could initiate development programmes to help improve their living standards.

Mr Ampofo-Twumasi cautioned the youth against being used by political leaders to cause confusion and disturbances in the communities during the electioneering campaigns and the December elections. “You are one people in the community with common aspirations and you should not allow petty squabbles to create factions amongst you”, he said. The DCE commended the people for initiating the school project and donated 50 bags of cement on behalf of the District Assembly to supplement their efforts.

Mr Asumang Berempong, Assembly Member announced that residents were contributing 10,000 cedis each and 40,000 cedis by non-residents in support of the project. He appealed to the District Assembly to provide the community with a KVIP to enhance sanitation in the area. Mr Eric Adjei-Siakwan, head teacher of the local primary school appealed to parents to enroll their children of school-going age in the school and not to leave them to roam the streets. He asked parents to support teachers to render quality services to promote good education in the community.

Ms Sophia Adalingeah, Girls Education Officer in the district advised parents to enroll their daughters as well as their physically challenged children in school. Nana Saah Darteh, Queen mother of the area advised the girls to shun pre-marital sex to avoid becoming pregnant or getting infected with HIV/AIDS.
