The Bosomtwe Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Antwi Boasiako, has called for a vote for change on December 7, to end the mess and restore hope to the nation.
He said Ghanaians deserved better than what the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) was offering and that was why they should kick them out.
He said the harsh economic realities – widening poverty, soaring unemployment and high cost of education among others had led to growing cynicism could not be allowed to continue.
He said the sterling performance of the Kufuor Administration should leave no one in doubt that it was the NPP that could be trusted to put the nation on the real path of growth and prosperity.
Mr Boasiako said this when inaugurating the “Osei-Mensah Fun Club”, a group of supporters, that had come together to vigorously canvass for votes for both the NPP presidential and parliamentary candidate in the area at separate ceremonies at Tetrefu, Akwaduo and Brodekwano.
He described as sad what he said was the virtual collapse of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), saying the NPP government under Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo would strengthen pro-poor interventions introduced between 2000 and 2008 and do more to create wealth for the people.
He said he was surprised at the desperate attempts by the NDC to discredit the free Senior High School (SHS) policy promised by the NPP and asked voters to ignore them.
“It is not something monstrous that cannot be done. It is about getting our priorities right as a nation.”
Mr Simon Osei-Mensah, the Member of Parliament, called for responsible conduct, telling the supporters to refuse to be drawn into the politics of insults and mischief-making.
The electioneering campaign should be based on issues – they should tell voters what the NPP would be doing to make their situation better.
He gave the assurance that every wrongly paid judgment debt would be recovered when the party is voted to power.
Madam Alberta Owusu Ansah, the NPP Ashanti Regional Women Organiser, urged members of the Club to embark on house-to-house education campaign to win over more voters.
