Kumasi, Nov. 27, GNA – “Voltarians” resident in the Ashanti Region, who previously had ill-feelings towards each other and in some cases were not even on talking terms with one another, have now smoked the peace-pipe.
The positive achievement was a result of a meeting dubbed Reconciliation Forum, organized by the Voltarian Co-ordinating Council (VCC) at Anloga, a suburb of Kumasi on Saturday, at which sons and daughters of the Volta Region in the Ashanti Region attended and aired their grievances.
The meeting afforded aggrieved persons the opportunity to forgive and forget the past and resolved to live in peace with each other. They shook hands and shared jokes among themselves at the end of the meeting.
Addressing the forum after the frank and open discussions, Torgbi S. K. Fugah, President of the VCC, commended them and said it should not be a “Nine-day affair” but a permanent feature.
He reminded them that it was only when they were united that, their quest for solutions to the chieftaincy and land disputes back home could materialize.
Torgbi Fugah said the reconciliation was crucial, since without unity, oneness and togetherness as a people, it would be difficult celebrating the Amuza Festival (The Volta festival), scheduled for December 11 in Kumasi.
