Volta Region to launch development plan

Accra, June 23, GNA – The Asogli State Council and the Volta Region House of Chiefs will launch a 250 million-dollar five-year Volta Region Economic Development Plan on June 30 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

A commemorative book on the fifth anniversary of Togbe Afede X1V’s ascension to the Asogli Paramount Stool will also be launched. A statement from the Asogli State Council and signed by its secretary Mr John Kuka said President John Atta Mills would be the Guest of Honour at the event.

Dubbed “Pathway to Prosperity” the development plan outlines the various development projects that the traditional authorities plan to undertake over the next years to bring about real improvements that will change the lives of the people and enhance progress towards the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals.

The anniversary book, dubbed “Making the Difference,” summarises the various peace and development initiatives pursued by Togbe Afede during the first five years of his reign. 23 June 09
