Volta Region observes remembrance day

Ho, Nov. 11, GNA – A wreath laying ceremony took place on the Cenotaph at the forecourt of the Volta Regional Health Administration in Ho on Thursday to mark this year’s remembrance day for those who fell during the two world wars.

On parade were eight officers and 180 men drawn from the 66 Artillery Regiment, the Police, Fire, Prisons, Customs Excise and Preventive services under the command of Captain Nehru Setorwu. Nine Veterans also took part in the parade.

The Regional Minister, Mr Kwasi Owusu-Yeboa, laid a wreath on behalf of the President while others were laid on behalf of the Security Services, the Veterans Association of Ghana (VAG) and the Chiefs and people of the Volta Region.

The wreaths laying ceremony was preceded by prayers for the peaceful repose of the fallen soldiers, the nation and the world. Amidst blowing of siren and the booming of gun salutes by the 66 Artillery Regiment, the last post was sounded and the reveille blown after which a minute’s silence was observed in memory of the departed veterans.
