Volta Region NPP office seekers urged to respect laid down structures

Ho, March 2, GNA – Mr Ben Mensah, Volta Regional Deputy Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has appealed to those seeking positions in the party to respect the NPP’s laid down structures. He said spurning regional, constituency and ward executives to appoint coordinators as campaign strategists had sown discord among party members. Mr Mensah said in the same way regional, constituency and ward executives should also demonstrate total neutrality to enable the office seekers to regard them as trusted umpires and not players in the race. Mr Mensah was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the need for the NPP to work collectively towards one cause. He said factionalism, where executives at all levels were perceived as favourites of one contestant or the other, would be minimized considerably if the built-in communication channels within the party were used by these office seekers.

Mr Mensah said party executives at any level were dully elected and should command the confidence of all other party members. He attributed the consistently performance of the NPP in the Volta Region in all elections since 1992 to lack of cohesion in campaign efforts. Mr Mensah said candidates with their cohorts, created their own strategies completely, in many cases out of reference to the regional campaign blueprint. He called on executives and party supporters in the Krachi-East and Biakoye constituencies to settle their differences to enable them pick their executives in readiness for the 2012 elections. 2 March 10
