Volta Region hosts National Youth Camp

Ho, July 22, GNA- Mr Steve Selormey, Volta Regional Co-ordinating Director (RCC), on Thursday called for a mechanism for monitoring the impact of the National Youth Camps for Peace on peace building between opposing factions in conflict areas.

Mr Selormey was inaugurating the Volta Regional Planning Committee on this year’s National Youth Camp for Peace scheduled for Ho from August 29 to September five.

The camp, initiated by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and first held in Tamale in 2003, offers a platform for students and youths from conflict areas in the host region to interact.

About 600 youths mainly students including those from conflict areas in the Volta Region are expected to attend the camp. Mr Selormey said it is important that youths from conflict areas who attend such camps were encouraged to translate useful lessons to each other.
