Volta queenmother declares war on Fulanis

The queenmother of Dorfor Avegame in the Volta Region, Mamaga Alovi, has vowed to drive away Fulani herdsmen from her jurisdiction.

It would be recalled that earlier this week, a farmer was tied to a tree and beaten up by Fulani herdsmen in the Region after she complained that their cattle were trampling her farm.

Speaking to journalists, Mamaga Alovi said: “I, as the queenmother of the area, the way these people are troubling us, I am organising a communal herdsmen meeting including my chiefs and the chiefs around the whole community on Saturday [February 6] that whether they like it or not, they are going to be driven out of the area.”

The Fulani have been in the news, particularly at Agogo in the Ashanti Region, where clashes between the nomads and the indigenes have resulted in several deaths.

The youth of Agogo have, therefore, warned citizens not to render any kind of service, such as selling of food items, farm implements, tools, and transport services to the Fulani.

They warned that anyone, who does so shall be considered “an enemy of Agogo” and shall be treated as such.
