Vodafone Wi-Fi Zone internet access on Legon campus

Accra, Feb. 5, GNA – Vodafone Ghana, a subsidiary of Vodafone plc, has launched the largest Wi-Fi zone in the country at the Ghana Hostels on the University of Ghana, Legon campus.

The service is the largest internet access point in the country with the capacity to serve over 5000 students at any given time.

A statement issued and copied to the Ghana News Agency by Vodafone in Accra at the weekend said students on campus could now connect and access the fastest internet speed through their laptops, tabs, smart phones and other WI-FI enabled devices.

“This is to give students unlimited access to information and educational material online, “it noted.

It said the Wi-Fi Zone reaffirmed the country’s commitment to enhancing internet relevance in the country’s development.

According to Carmen Bruce-Annan, Head of Corporate Communications at Vodafone Ghana, “Making the internet accessible to all Ghanaians is something we are committed in doing.”

The statement said it was important that in today’s world, people could use the internet and benefit from having knowledge at their fingertips.

“Our students are, the new generation who will lead the internet revolution, if they are not already. We value the contribution we can make to ensure that our country continues to produce a technologically proficient generation“, it added.

The campus WI-FI zone is the second major data initiative undertaken in the country, in addition to the largest internet café at the Kwame Nkrumah University Science and Technology campus for both students and visitors.

Vodafone has also announced the launch with a promotional offer of 100 browsing hours a month for only GH¢30.

Accessing the service requires the use of a voucher available at any AfriqXpress Pay point on campus and at the Ghana Hostels.
