The Vodafone Ghana Foundation and Sustainability has sponsored a mentoring programme dubbed “Brave Heart”, an initiative organized by Dream Believe Achieve Network, a nongovernmental charitable body.
Brave Heart is a 12-week mentoring programme which educates the children on topics like time management, networking, sex education, underage drinking, career selection, personal hygiene and grooming, and communicating with confidence.
Nana Yaa Ofori-Koree, Head of Vodafone Ghana Foundation and Sustainability said the initiative was sponsored because the Foundation recognized the positive impact and influence it has on children and their lifestyle.
She pledged her organization’s continuous support to the Brave Heart programme
Ms Brooke Nuwati, Founder of Dream Believe Achieve Network, who expressed her gratitude for the support, said her network had mentored over 400 children so far.
She explained that the network brings together professionals with diverse expertise to share their life experiences with the children while advising them on career choices.
“After the programme, individual mentors are assigned to each child or student to do a follow up check on the child to find out if there is improvement in their lives, they establish personal relationships with the children so that the children can open up to them all the time,” she added.
Ms Nuwati said usually after the mentoring sessions, they organize games with the children to make the whole exercise exciting.
“We play with trampolines, bouncy castles, face painter as well as opportunities to engage in dancing competitions and choreography,” she added.
