Visa Fraudster Goes in

Nana Yaw, unemployed 32, was on Tuesday jailed three months by a tribunal at Nsawam for defrauding one Kwadwo Gyamasi of 5.3 million cedis under the pretext of obtaining a visa for him to travel to Scotland.

Nana Yaw, who pleaded guilty, was in addition fined 500,000 cedis. He would serve six extra years in jail in default.

The court also ordered the convict to refund the amount to Gyamasi after serving the sentence or go in for two extra years.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Joyce Adama told the court that Nana Yaw collected the money from Gyamasi in July last year, but went into hiding until he was arrested this month.
