Visa bishop hides in bush

A Kumasi-based man of God decided to take refuge in a thick bush after duping seven unsuspecting people of a staggering amount of GH¢76,500.

Bishop Charles Amos Boampong managed to dupe his victims under the pretext of securing them United States of America visas.

He reportedly charged each of his victims an amount ranging between GH¢11,000 and GH¢ 29,700.

The man of God however failed to secure the visas for the seven people he had collected the money from.

Sensing danger that he might be arrested, the man of God, who is nicknamed ‘Cardinal’, then vanished into thin air.

But it was, however, alleged that the Bishop, who is the founder and leader of Generations of Christ Ministries at Kwamo, went into hiding in a forest at Kwamo.

Chief Inspector Godwin Ahianyo, of the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Office, said the man of God was finally arrested on April 29 this year.

According to him, several efforts by the police to apprehend Bishop Boampong did not yield the desired results as the Bishop always proved elusive.

Chief Inspector Ahianyo disclosed that the police, acting upon intelligence, finally picked Bishop Boampong from the bush at Kwamo.

He entreated people who might have fallen prey to Bishop Boampong’s illegal visa deals to report at the police station.
