VIP, STC drivers clash over ‘parking space’ at Asafo

Activities were disrupted Monday morning at the Asafo GPRTU bus station following a confrontation between workers of private transport operator, VIP and State Transport Company (STC).

The confrontation started when the STC management attempted to inaugurate their Kumasi operations at the station.

Travelers were left stranded when VIP drivers blocked the road with their buses to prevent the STC buses from entering the yard.

Some of the VIP drivers in an interview said they will ‘do anything’ to stop STC from invading their premises.

Osei Boaheng, Vice Chairman for Kumasi – Tarkwa branch told Atinka FM’s sister station, Agyenkwa News that STC’s decision to join them at the Asafo station will create congestion at the place due to limited space.

More soon.
