Vigilantism: Mahama’s comment disappointing – Sammy Awuku

The National Youth Organiser of the NPP and board chair of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Sammy Awuku has described former President John Mahama’s comment on the growing political vigilantism in the country as disappointing.

Mr. Mahama said in a Facebook post “Political ‘vigilantism’ is spiralling out of control and government doesn’t appear to be able to deal with the situation. And the tragedy is that most of our moral society have become passive spectators”.

Speaking to Francis Abban on the Morning Starr on Tuesday, October 31, Mr. Awuku said it’s disappointing to hear such comments from a statesman like Mr. Mahama.

“I wanted Mr. Mahama to enjoy his post-presidency and I think sometimes some of this comments don’t help because when he does that he has deliberately put on a Partisan cloth, but where he has reached as a statesman I expect more from him.

“I’m disappointed in his comments because he was the President who said the NDC was borne out of violence and are not intimidated by acts of violence”.
