Victor Gbeho pulls out of NDC race

Veteran diplomat Victor Gbeho has withdrawn from the race for National Democratic Congress chairman.

Mr. Gbeho announced his withdrawal on JOY FM today. His decision precedes the NDC?s delegate?s congress in the Eastern regional capital Koforidua scheduled for Thursday.

Mr. Gbeho had been up against incumbent chairman Dr. Obed Asamoah and former Biakoye MP Dr. Kwabena Adjei.

Speaking on JOY FM, Mr. Gbeho said he withdrew after concerns from the party?s Northern Volta Regional Caucus to the effect that the party?s hierarchy is being dominated by officials from Southern Volta.

?The former President is from the south, the Party chairman now is from the south, the deputy minority leader in parliament is also from the south as well as the chairman of the Volta region MPs? caucus. I am also a southerner so they want us to give the Northern Voltarians a chance? he said.
