‘Vickieleaks’ content is very damning to NDC govt – Amaliba

A member of the NDC legal team, Abraham Amaliba has told Radio XYZ that statements made by the dismissed former deputy Communications Minister in her leaked tape is “very damning” to the NDC government.

Mr. Amaliba however said the contents of the tape must not be taken serious since a careful interrogation of the statements clearly shows an overzealous woman who was only trying to exalt herself in the presence of her listener.

Victoria Hammah was sacked Friday by President John Mahama after she was heard on the leaked tape saying she will not quit politics until she has bagged US$1 million.

She also denigrated Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Rachel Appoh, as a “loud, ugly, senseless and egoistic” woman who has always been needlessly fighting her boss Nana Oye Lithur.

In the leaked tape, she also claimed that the Minister of Gender and Children Protection, Nana Oye Lithur met the Supreme Court Judges ahead of the Election Petition verdict.

Speaking in an interview with XYZ’ Strict Proof programme on Friday, Mr. Amaliba said Victoria Hammah was only trying to hype the importance of the Lithur’s in the conversation which she ended up exaggerating it.

He also stated that Victoria Hammah’s statements are not factual and cannot be supported by any evidence.

“She was trying to take a swipe at the Deputy Minister for Gender and let her listener know that the deputy Minister for Gender is nobody. In so doing, she attempted to hype the importance of the Lithur’s…in so doing she made comments to this effect,” Amaliba said.

He added that “She [Victoria Hammah] has not been able to show that Nana Oye Lithur was in the forefront in trying to secure victory maybe illegally for the NDC, she only made a passing comment that Nana Oye Lithur is the one who secured victory of the NDC…don’t forget that she wasn’t part of the legal team and has no knowledge of anything.

“But I agree those statements are damning to government, but it is not like those statements are prima facie evidence to show that the Supreme Court verdict was procured through illegal means”.
