Vice Presidents commissions fibreglass boats

The Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama on Saturday at Tapa Abotoase commissioned six fibreglass boats, procured by the government at one billion 80 million cedis, to enhance health delivery to deprived island communities on the Volta lake.

The Vice President regretted that the communities had no access to social amenities and suffered deprivations.

He said: “We are, therefore, committed to implementing policies that will bridge the gap between these communities and the urban areas.

Alhaji Mahama said the fibreglass boats would assist health workers to delivery health services to people in the island communities.

The boats have motors, life jackets and are durable, modern and of international standard, built to the client’s specification, he stated.

The Vice President advised private commercial boat operators to ensure that their boats were safe transportation on the Volta Lake to avoid accidents.
