Vice President leaves for Rome

Accra, Oct 14, GNA – Vice President Aliu Mahama left Accra on Friday night for Rome to attend the 60th anniversary of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).

Mr Akwasi Adjei, the Deputy Foreign Minister and Mr Clement Eledi, the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, accompanied him.

The Vice President is expected to address the FAO and hold meetings with officials of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) as well as officials of the World Food Programme. Mr Yaw Buabeng of the office of the Vice President said Vice President Aliu Mahama’s speech is expected to touch on food security and the reduction of poverty in Africa.

He said the Vice President would appeal to officials of the IFAD to establish a country office in Ghana.
