Vice President arrives in Addis Ababa for AU Summit

Addis Ababa, May 26, GNA – Vice President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Addis Ababa to attend an Extraordinary Summit of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.

The Vice President, who was accompanied by Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, would join African Heads of State to deliberate on the state of peace and security on the continent.

The leaders would search for a roadmap to peacefully resolve the conflict in Libya.

The two-day summit is a follow-up to a previous African Union Peace and Security Council decision that called for an immediate ceasefire, the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, protection of foreign nationals, suspension of NATO air strikes and a dialogue between the government and rebels on a political settlement.

Vice President Mahama would be back on May 27.
