Vice President Amissah-Arthur interacts with NDC loyalists in Kumasi

Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur has appealed for the support of party faithful, and the Ghanaian electorate to ensure a resounding victory for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Election 2012.

He made the call when he addressed enthusiastic party supporters in Kumasi on Wednesday prior to attending the Ninth Quadrennial Delegate’s Congress of the Ghana Trades Union Congress.

At the Congress, he assured trade unionists of government’s commitment to give equal pay for equal work and job creation.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur, 61, an economist, and immediate past Governor of the Central Bank, was given a rousing welcome in the Garden City of Kumasi, where he performed his first official assignment since he assumed office a week ago.

He expressed appreciation with the reception accorded him and his entourage and promised that he would team up with President Mahama to continue with the good works of the late President John Evans Atta Mills and the NDC Government.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur said the “battle” for the elections would be tough, but with unity and sense of purpose the NDC would come off victorious and ensure the success of the Better Ghana Agenda.

The agenda contained in the NDC manifesto promised to deliver more jobs, investment in people, prosperity for all and running an open, honest and transparent government.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur, who was sworn into office eight days ago following the gap created by the sudden demise of the late President Mills, underscored the need for massive support for President Mahama so that he would complete the first term of the late President Mills and renew the mandate of the NDC for another four-year-term.

He promised to return and interact with party faithful ahead of the December 7 polls.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur has since returned to Accra.
