Vice President Aliu Mahama returns home

Accra, March 01, GNA – Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, returned home on Friday evening after a two week official tour to Rome and Cuba. Briefing journalists on arrival, Mr Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, Special Assistant to the Vice President, said Alhaji Mahama first went to Rome, where he attended the annual general meeting of International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

He said IFAD would invest about 100 million dollars in the Northern Rural Development Project.

Mr Buabeng said Vice President Mahama visited Cuba and from discussions, she granted Ghana 20 medical scholarships. He said other benefits of the visit were, the shipment of cocoa beans to Cuba and the establishment of cocoa processing plants in Ghana and Cuba.

Mr Buabeng said there would also be a programme where Ghanaians would be trained in the manual processing of chocolate. Officials of the Office of the Vice President met him on arrival.
